DIMAPUR — The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU (I), Jalukie, conducted a free “Livestock infertility-cum-health camp” at the council hall of Jalukieram village in Peren district on August 17.
The programme was conducted by expert faculty and students under the leadership of Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, assistant professor in the department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and under the supervision of Dr. I Shakuntala, the dean of the college, according to a press release.
During the event, a technical session was held where resource persons discussed various topics related to livestock infertility and diseases, followed by a farmer-scientist interaction.
Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, assistant professor and coordinator of the programme, delivered a presentation on “Infertility of farm livestock and its management”, while Dr. N. Bhumapati Devi, assistant professor, spoke on “Common reproductive issues of pet animals and their management”, and Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, assistant professor, covered “Poultry diseases and their management”.
A total of 44 participants (32 farmers and 12 officials) attended the programme. During the camp, reproductive health check-ups, surgical operations, wound dressings, and deworming were performed.
Vitamins, mineral mixtures, anthelmintics, antibiotics, and other veterinary medicines were later distributed to the farmers, covering a total of 278 livestock.
