DIMAPUR — The Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) discussed the agenda for the creation of a CDPO office at the EAC Phor Headquarters under the Meluri Sub-Division of Phek district during its monthly meeting held at the DPDB hall in Phek on Saturday.
The meeting also saw the department officer of the concerned area highlight the urgent need for the office for the welfare of the people, according to a DIPR report. After a lengthy deliberation, the board agreed to recommend the proposal to the government for approval.
Further, the house discussed and constituted a verification committee for the Local Area Development Programme (LADP 2024-2025), headed by ADC Phek Ruppfukuotuo Noudi as the chairman of the committee.
Earlier, the board also reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting regarding the upgrade of Hilly Christian School, Phuyoba, under SDEO Chazuba. After a briefing by the concerned SDEO, the house agreed to recommend the matter to the relevant department.
The Department of Food and Civil Supplies presented their departmental activities via a PowerPoint presentation.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Advisor for New and Renewable Energy and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, N Nyusietho Nyuthe.
Longkhim SDPDB meeting
The Longkhim SDPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, SDPDB Chairman and Advisor for IT and Communication, Economics and Statistics, and Evaluation, on August 16 at the EAC Office in Chare.
In his address, Sethrongkyu appealed to government employees to remain at their places of posting and serve the public with dedication. He also urged the members to perform their duties with utmost sincerity while fulfilling their responsibilities for the district.
During the meeting, representatives from various departments—SDAO Longkhim, Medical SMO Longkhim, GHS Chare, and Shuzong School, Chare—shared their grievances, such as lack of infrastructure and staff shortages, and requested necessary action. In response, the chairman assured that he would do his best to address the problems faced by these institutions and agencies.
A request from the United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) for the immediate posting of an SDEO at Longkhim was also submitted.
After a lengthy discussion, the following agenda items were recommended and forwarded to the concerned department for necessary action: the proposal for the construction of the SDAO office and rehabilitation centre at Longkhim town; the proposal for the purchase of land for the extension of Longkhim town; the proposal for the creation of a government primary school at Ahotsi village; and the proposal for the allotment of grants-in-aid to Shuzong School, Chare.
The following societies were also recommended for registration: Khehtrum Farming Society at Chongtor village, Integrated Livelihood Society at Longkhim town, Eastern Livelihood Society at Longkhim town, and the opening of Saint Edmund’s School at Chongtor village.
