Speech of Inno. Jungshiwati, Deputy Ato Kilonser GPRN/NSCN

Revolutionary salute and a warm greeting to all the members of GPRN/NSCN present on this auspicious day, the 78th Naga Independence Day celebration 2024. Let’s all be thankful to God our creator and sustainer of life. It is by his grace that we are alive and able to commemorate this day when some of our comrades, near and dear ones who are no more with us. We pay respect to our pioneers the unsung heroes for their sacrifices towards the movement for freedom which will be remembered and never forgotten.

Today as we mark the 78th Naga Independence Day let us pause to consider the remarkable path that has led us here, August 14, 1947, was more than just a day, It represented the beginning of a New Chapter when our Pioneers’ Aspiration for Freedom from the British a Day before Indian Independence was Declared to define our own Political Destiny.

Since World War 2, the concept of sovereignty and self determination of Nagas have evolved significantly. Today the idea of political independence and economic independence are one coin with two sides, redefining through shared values, vision and strategic goals. This is the reason why on 17th November 2017 the Working Committee, NNPGs during the course of negotiation with the GOI signed the ‘Agreed Position’ which entrenched the political and historical Rights of Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity through practical concept of honoring and enduring peaceful co-existence without compromising on the Naga Historical and political rights which was then agreed upon by both entities after thoroughly discussed and agreed upon and declared negotiation concluded on 31st October 2019.

GPRN/NSCN is a people’s government, it’s an integral part of the Working Committee, NNPGs. Various incidents have tried to hamper the working mechanism of our Govt. but we have stood the test of time and it has been successful. Baseless impeachment proceeding without the consent of Tatar Hohos, Cabinet, and the knowledge of Naga Regions created great confusions but as our Holy Bible says on Ecclesiastes 3:7 says ‘There is a Time to keep Silent and a Time to Speak’ this verse fairs well and we have stood our ground. Worthy mention is Gautama Buddha Concept on silence “Silence the angry man with Love. Silence the ill-natured man with Kindness, Silence the miser with generosity and Silence the liar with the Truth”. Our government has always stood for Love, kindness, Generosity and Truth. And the truth shall always prevail.

In a world where Development of modern technology is very rapid, we have to secure our Younger Generations’ future, and the only way to secure is through peace. Peace is the ultimate. To achieve peace, we should accomplish the goals which are in front of us lying dormant, which is the Indo Naga issues. It’s high time for all the Nagas to come and voice out unitedly to GOI to implement what has been agreed with all the negotiating parties without further delay. Every year thousands of students are graduating where are we going to accommodate those upcoming youths to sustain their future. GPRN/NSCN aims to work for the betterment of the younger generation and also to bring a solution to have a smooth transaction to pass through and make Nagaland the international or National tourist destination not an arm conflict zone, which will also be another lifeline for the younger generation which can be achieved by peace alone.

The phrase “Prevention is better than cure” is significant in our present times. Alarming issues occurring in South East Asia like our Neighboring Countries of Bangladesh and Burma to be specific. These incidents can happen overnight even in our Naga Country, if we do not take bold steps to prevent this kind of situations. We should not let the same issues enter into our Kitchen. GPRN/NSCN will not allow any unwanted elements to sabotage or hijack our cause and sacrifices for their personal agendas. We will stand, guard and fight in all time. We are confident with the Present Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji, to be a man of his words and soon call upon all the negotiating parties for the final inking.
