Northeast Frontier Railway celebrates Independence Day with great pomp
DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great pomp and grandeur throughout its jurisdiction.
General Manager of NFR Chetan Kumar Shrivastava hoisted the National Flag during ceremony held at the NFRSA complex in Maligaon, which featured Guard of Honour by several contigents including the RPF, Territorial Army, Civil Defence, Bharat Scouts and Guides, and school children, according to a delayed report received here on Friday.
In his address, the General Manager highlighted NFR’s remarkable achievements this year, the ongoing initiatives and the zone’s substantial progress in operational efficiency, passenger amenities and environmental sustainability.
‘The RPF was vigilant, apprehending 203 illegal immigrants, seizing contraband worth INR 20 crores and saving six lives,’ said the update.
The GM inaugurated a boxing ring at NFRSA stadium, newly constructed accommodations for employees, an RPF ladies barrack with 25 beds capacity, and Executive cabins at the Central Hospital in Maligaon.
“Members of the NFRWWO also celebrated the day by distributing essentials amongst the admitted patients at the N.F. Railway Central Hospital, Maligaon, and with children of the Jagriti School by holding various competitions,” stated the press release.
