Organisations undertake charity works

Members of Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland branch along with the jail officials during the visit to District Jail in Kohima on the occasion of 78th Independence Day celebration on Thursday.

DIMAPUR — As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, various organisations undertook charity works by visiting homes and distributed essential items.

IRCS: Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch, visited the District Jail in Kohima and distributed essential hygiene kits and ration supplies to the inmates and reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service and the well-being of all individuals, including those within the correctional system.

The visit was aimed at addressing the basic needs of the inmates, promoting hygiene and ensuring that they have access to necessary provisions.

A total of 72 inmates received hygiene kits that included essential items such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary items and other personal care products.

Additionally, ration supplies were distributed to support the nutritional needs of the inmates.

Meanwhile, the assistant jailer has expressed gratitude to the Indian Red Cross Society for their thoughtful gesture.

DHS Mon: As part of the Independence Day celebration, officials of the District Health Society (DHS), Mon, visited district sub-jail on August 15. The team led by the chief medical officer (CMO) and the DPO of all the programmes interacted with the superintendent, jailor and the inmates. The team also donated meat to the inmates.

Kohima Masjid Committee: The Kohima Masjid Committee visited Cherry Blossoms School and donated an inverter battery for the children with disabilities to improve learning even when there is no current. The programme was attended by 4 members from the KMC, 20 students, 3 former students with disabilities and 7 teachers.

GPPK: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, the Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK), Chandmari, visited Kohima Leprosy Clinic at Naga Bazaar Colony and shared ration items with inmates and staff.
