United Sangtam Students’ Conference urges immediate posting of new SDEO at Longkhim

DIMAPUR — The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has urged the commissioner and secretary of School Education department for immediate posting of a new sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) under Longkhim establishment.

In a letter to the commissioner and secretary dated Aug. 14, the USSC said that the absence of a substantive officer due to “prolonged vacancy” of the SDEO’s post has caused significant disruptions in the smooth functioning of schools and the educational administration in the region.

The student body maintained that the absence of a “crucial officer” has led to several administrative bottlenecks, affecting the timely implementation of educational policies and programmes.

“Additionally, the monitoring and evaluation of school performance have been severely hampered due to this vacancy. We understand the challenges faced by the department in filling vacant posts, but considering the critical role of the SDEO in ensuring quality education, we urge you to prioritise the filling of this vacancy,” the USSC said.
