Sizeable representation from Nagaland at I-Day celebration in Delhi

DIMAPUR — Nagaland will be seeing a sizeable representation at the 78th Independence Day celebration in New Delhi, with almost 30 people and their families being invited as special guests to the event.

Besides, another 31 young Naga couples residing in Delhi have also been invited through Nagaland House, Delhi, to attend the celebration as special invitees, according to an update.

On the occasion, Bendangwati Ao, Deputy Superintendent of Police, will be conferred with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Over 6,000 special guests from across the country have been invited by the Government of India to participate in the celebrations of this year’s Independence Day on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Three entrepreneurs were invited as special guests from three districts of Nagaland under the Aspirational Block Programme. Renung of Kiusan block under Kiphere district, Kughalu K of Akuhaito block under Zunheboto district and Tsupan of Thonoknyu block under Noklak district are attending the event along with their spouses.

Speaking from the Red Fox Hotel in Delhi, the trio expressed their heartfelt gratitude to both the state and the central government for inviting them as special guests to witness the celebrations in Delhi.

Other special guests include W Manni, a young elected representative from Wangti village in Mon district; Ekhen Konyak, M Neipon Munham, Pheam M Wangsang Tahkaishu and Nokyem Kano, representing Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Tizit; and Rosela, Y Tonchingkhumla, Shangchiu C Khiam, Hanglang Ongbou S Chang and Ashokhiung, representing EMRS Tuensang.

Two students, Yimjila of Showuba Old, Nuiland, along with teacher Easterly T Aye and Anato Zhimo, along with teacher Kekhriesatuo Akashe, will be attending the celebrations.

From the Lakhpati Didi Scheme under the Ministry of Rural Development, Ajanbeni Kikon from Upper Khel, Lakhuti and Merangkala from Aliba village, Mokokchung, will be present with their spouses. From the Atal Innovation Mission, Lois Kamei of Jalukie, P Jeanlauthai Jeol and Alok Kumar Mishra, all from JNV Peren, will be attending the celebrations.

From the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), two persons, Tarun Mohan and Rakesh Mohan, are representing Nagaland. Among ASHA workers and ANMs, Avonuo Ltu and Kethosinu Keyie, respectively, have been selected from the state.
