Advocate LB Namo, who was the keynote speaker, emphasised on the profound significance of the Naga Independence declaration noting that it as a monumental achievement in human history, one that cannot be quantified or replicated.
He highlighted that the momentous event was a remarkable achievement in human history, symbolising the sacrifices made by the Naga people through their blood, tears and soul.
Advocate Namo also provided insights into the origins of the Naga political movement, aiming to deepen the understanding of the younger generation about the Naga struggle.
The president of Watsu Mungdang, Arenla, urged the Naga people to reflect deeply on the meaning of independence. She stated that true independence is characterised by the absence of fear, fragmentation and barriers between people, tribes and groups. According to her, it is a state where individuals can freely express their opinions and contribute to the nation’s progress without doubt or hindrance.
Arenla also called upon the Naga community to consider whether they genuinely have the freedom to express the truth or whether their nation remains divided by walls of factionalism, tribalism and clanism. In this regard, she emphasised the need for a collective effort to overcome those challenges.
Arenla also recognised the technological and intellectual advancements of the current generation but questioned whether the advancements are being used to uphold the true essence of independence. She further urged the people to stand up for their rights, speak out against corruption and boldly advocate for what is right.
A representative of Ao Senden urged the gathering to reinforce the theme of unity and the ongoing struggle for true independence.
