We, the Nagas are inherently a sovereign independent people and a free nation of each Village republic. But British intruded into our country in 1832 and distorted our sovereign birthright until the middle part of 1947. Yet our people, with the evolution of the modern world, democratically constituted the Naga National Council (NNC) on February 2, 1946 at Wokha, Lotha Region to safeguard our sovereign independence as a Nation.
Thus the mandated Naga National Council (NNC) formally declared the age-old Naga independence on 14th August 1947 in Kohima, Angami Region and on the same day NNC informed India by Telegram, and cabled to HMG and UNO for Information and Record. We are a Nation and not factions.
Therefore, only the NNC/FGN and our people can proudly celebrate/commemorate this historic day of our Nation the 14th August, 2024. But the NSCN factions deviated from the NNC/FGN and formed themselves in 1980s, and the fake NNC/FGNs created themselves in 1990s have no right to observe/celebrate/commemorate this historic day of our Nation on 14th August, 2024 until or unless they join the mandated Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN).
