DIMAPUR — The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has urged the state government to set up a District Transport Office DTO) in Kiphire district.
In a letter to the secretary of Transport department, the USSC stated that the people in the district have faced significant inconveniences in the absence of a DTO office for more than two decades since the establishment of the Kiphire district.
It stated that in the absence of DTO, the people were forced to travel to neighbouring districts for basic services such as renewal and issuance of driving licenses etc. The organisation stated that it not only incur financial loss and consume time but also create undue hardship especially for those with limited means and mobility.
“Kiphire district, though geographically isolated, has witnessed considerable growth and development over the years. Establishing a DTO would not only address these immediate issues but also enhance administrative efficiency and contribute to the overall socio-economic development in the region,” USSC stated.
In light of the above mentioned circumstances, USSC has urged the government to prioritise establishing a DTO in Kiphire.
