DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (YA) and ULFA (Independent) have called for a total shutdown on August 15 from 1 am to 6 pm in the states of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh with exception to emergency services, media and religious activities.

A press release issued by NSCN/GPRN (YA) through its MIP has called upon all the freedom loving Wesean citizens to reject the celebration and support the boycott call by remaining indoors.

“This colonialist symbol is just to deceive the world and justify the illegal domination to continue suppression of the legitimate aspirations of the Wesean region. India is desperately trying to paint the picture of normalcy in the region which is only myth. Beneath the veneer lies a harsh reality composed of brutal military oppression, endless human right violations and cruel assimilation policies,” the statement read.

It stated that the imposed celebration has nothing to offer to the region except a sorrowful reminder of another year under India’s brutal occupation. It added that it is an insult to the aspiration of the Wesean people who had sacrificed much for restoration of our lost sovereignty.

The statement further stated this day will continue to remained a ‘Black Day’ in chapter of Wesean revolution.
