A prelude to 78th I-Day celebration: Akashvani Kohima presents Musical Fiesta
KOHIMA — As a prelude to India’s 78th Independence Day celebration, the Akashvani Kohima presented a ‘Musical Fiesta’, at the State Academy Hall in Kohima on Saturday.
The musical celebration honours the spirit of freedom and unity through an exceptional showcase of music and cultural performances from 15 tribes of Nagaland.
It is worth mentioning that Akashvani Kohima is the only medium that disseminates news in 15 dialects of Nagaland besides Nagamese and English language.
Gracing the celebration, General of Police Rupin Sharma, suggested that the songs sung in respective dialects can be translated to English or Hindi for universal consumption and to make the culture and music of the tribes universal. He said, ‘in this way there will be more acceptability and understanding of what is being performed on the stage’.
Citing that people from various parts of the country come to Nagaland to enjoy the music, he hopes that the expressions and feelings along with the music does not get lost in the absence of translation.
Further, it will also generate some employment for the people who translate it, Sharma opined.
He hopes that art and culture of the state not only confines to Nagaland alone but spreads to the rest of the Northeast, country and the rest of the world.
The police chief was of the opinion that people should propagate the softness of Naga through music and not just being projected as a warriors or fighters.
Assistant Director, Akashvani Office of the ADGP Content Guwahati Aseem Qazi also graced the occasion and addressed the crowd.
The musical fiesta featured an array of performances from renowned artistes including Moko Koza, DGP band, and Colored Keys.
