DIMAPUR — Kohima College on Friday celebrated its 57th foundation day with Vikietuo Belho, GB of Mission Compound, as the special guest.
An update from the college stated that the college principal, Dr. Vitsosie Vüprü, in his welcome address, reflected the college’s journey of growth and transformation, shaped by the collective efforts of faculty, staff, students and alumni. He emphasised the importance of honouring the past while striving to build a brighter future that is even brighter.
A special presentation was made by the faculty and students of the Commerce department, while Ako Savi, associate professor of Tenyidie department, expressed her love for the college and appreciated the dedication of the staff and students.
One of the highlights of the day was a poetry recital titled “An ode to Kohima College” composed and recited by Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu.
It stated that Neivolieü (Atsü-ü), granddaughter of late Vilalhoulie Belho, who was a founding member of Kohima College, shared a moving narrative about the passion and conviction of the college’s founding fathers.
“It is truly an honour to witness the achievements of the college. I urge the students to root their imagination in concrete reality and to strive to reach their dreams,” she said.
The event also featured a special performance titled “Thankful” by the group Everpresence, which was followed with a closing prayer led by Dr. Prescilla Ezong, associate professor of Education.
To recognise and celebrate the achievements of its students, Kohima College instituted several awards. The awards were given away by Dr. Ketoukhrieü, assistant professor and IQAC coordinator.
The Scholars Badge 2024 was awarded to Nguzokhotuo Mepfhou, a 6th semester student of Political Science department. The award included a certificate of commendation and a cash prize of INR 5,000, sponsored by IQAC, Kohima College.
Dr. Satuo Sekhose Star Pupil Award 2024 was presented to Kikhosou Rume, 6th semester student of Political Science department. The award included a certificate of commendation and cash prize of INR 30,000, sponsored by the family of the late Dr. Satuo Sekhose, founding member of Kohima College.
The Departmental Awards 2024 were present to Noyingi Z Shitiri, 6th semester student of Economics department, sponsored by the Economics department of Kohima College, and NguzokhotuoMepfhou, 6th semester student of Political Science department, sponsored by the Political Science department of Kohima College.
