Industries department signs MoU with ONDC

DIMAPUR — Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Kohima.

The primary aim of the MoU was to collaborate in facilitating digital sales for small businesses, farmers, artisan and entrepreneurs through the ONDC platform and enhance their digital inclusion, stated a DIPR report. The collaborative efforts aim to empower and enable the diverse business entities by leveraging digital solutions and fostering sustainable growth.

The MoU was signed by Shireesh Joshi, chief business officer of ONDC, and P Tokugha Sema, director of Industries and Commerce department, in the presence of Y Lipongse Thongtsar, additional director of Industries and Commerce; Pooja Bajaj Bagaria, ONDC in-charge of NE states; Yaikhomba and Imtisunep.

It mentioned that ONDC is a flagship initiative of the department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to democratise e-commerce in India.

In Nagaland, the department of Industries and Commerce is the nodal department for promoting and advancing the successful implementation of ONDC initiative within the State.

For further expansion and widespread participation, the Government of Nagaland has empanelled Ilandlo Services Private Limited (Nagaland based e-commerce brand) to work as the nodal agency to bring in all the local artisans, FPO, entrepreneurs etc under its umbrella and help in ONDC network.
