DIMAPUR — The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 17 Chizami Assembly Constituency has refuted a recent news item published in local dailies that some former NDPP members from Phek district have joined the Indian National Congress (INC).

It was clarified in a statement that D Mosonyi Domeh, former president of the NDPP Phek Region, and Yetshulhi Ngatsi, a former CEC member of the NDPP, defected to the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the state assembly election held in February 2023 and supported the NPP candidate.

It stated that the question of their defection from NDPP to INC was completely irrelevant and unfounded. It claimed that this was merely an attempt to discredit the NDPP 17 Chizami A/C and create confusion among the public by misusing the NDPP’s name and designations.

It added that they no longer had any connection/affiliation whatsoever with the NDPP after their defection.
