DIMAPUR — The Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) condemned the “bestial act” allegedly committed by the NSCN-R (Wangtin) group against one of its members, Dick H Yepthomi of Natha Old village, a butcher at Daily Bazar, Zunheboto.

In a condemnation note, it stated that he was allegedly car lifted to an uninhabited location, where he was mercilessly beaten black and blue to the point of near fatality.

“The chamber intensely condemns the heinous perpetration upon a naive public,” read the note, adding that the ZCCI stands committed to the joint resolve of SYO, ZTK, ZAPO and ZTGBA against the group, maintaining that it is a sounding message against the current common malevolence pervasive in society.

Further, the ZCCI condemned the “prevailing evils operating under the shadow of the national movement” and stated that the chamber believes the goal of any national struggle should be to create a conducive and enabling environment for its subjects to thrive and prosper. However, such “horrifying incidents” have the opposite effect, exacerbating current scepticism about the genuine struggle.

The ZCCI urged the law enforcement agency to heed the public outcry for safety and justice and to impose appropriate punishment on the perpetrators according to the law.
