ICCR felicitates TNMS for international success

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Madrigal Singers (TNMS) were felicitated by N Munish Singh, Regional Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, North East Zone, on July 31 at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR).

TNMS recently participated in the 13th World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand, where they won two gold medals for the country.

According to an update, the event was hosted by Kavi Zhimo, while Hito Kiho, founder and conductor of TNMS, delivered the opening remarks.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiho thanked Singh for making the effort to travel and recognise the choir’s achievements. He also shared his vision, stating that TNMS was founded to elevate choral singing in Nagaland and India.

He expressed his desire to place India on the global choral music map and to showcase the country’s rich culture and traditions. He also emphasised his wish for the team to connect with the world through music.

In his speech, Singh expressed his joy and congratulated TNMS for bringing laurels to the country. He assured that the ICCR would always support the team in any future missions they undertake.

The programme concluded with TNMS performing four pieces: “Mhesho Mheghi Kivi” by Hito Kiho, “Leron Leron Sinta” by Saunder Choir, “Swara” by Hito Kiho, and “Kekhrie” by Methaneilie, arranged by Hito Kiho.
