Biren Singh  congratulates new Governor of Manipur

IMPHAL — Chief Minister N Biren Singh has congratulated Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who has been appointed as new Governor of Manipur.

Sharing the new on X, Biren Singh wrote, “I warmly congratulate the Hon’ble Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya Ji, on his appointment as the Governor of Manipur. May your esteemed leadership and experience bring renewed hope and inspiration to our state.”

Acharya has replaced Anusuiya Uikey, according to a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday night.

In a major reshuffle, the President of India appointed former Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, as the new Governor of Assam. He has also been given the additional charge of Manipur.

Acharya, who is known for his contributions to education, was born on October 3, 1954, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In 1990, he forayed into politics by becoming the divisional president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Ramnagar area of Varanasi.

In 2015, he was elected as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) after contesting the election from the Legislative Assembly constituency.

Security Advisor calls on Governor

State Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh along with Director General of Police, Manipur, Rajiv Singh met with outgoing Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Monday.

They lauded the outgoing governor for her efforts in serving the people of Manipur and her initiatives towards restoring peace and normalcy in the state.

Uikey also commended the officers for their dedication towards restoration of peace and encouraged them to continue taking decisions in the best interest of Manipur people.

Congress MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh also called on outgoing Governor at Raj Bhavan on Monday, and thanked her for her indomitable services to the people of Manipur.
