29 players find new teams at Peren District Football Association auction
DIMAPUR — The auctioning of footballers for the 2nd Edition of the
Peren District Football League (PDFL) 2024 saw enthusiastic participation from eight district teams, at the Ball Park, Jalukie Town, on July 27 evening.
An initiative of the Peren District Football Association (PDFA), 36 players were listed for auction with an aim to promote professionalism and provide opportunities for local talents who had represented the Peren district team over the past three years.
The eight participating district teams were allotted INR 70,000 each to buy players during the auction, which saw a total of INR 4.67 lakh being spent on 29 players, who found their new teams, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead, said a delayed update from PDFA.
Jalukie Falcons FC and Benreu FC emerged top spenders at the auction, utilising INR 69,000 each out of allocated budget, with the former securing four players, while the latter successfully biding three players.
The most expensive player in PDFA auction was Nagaland star midfielder and NSF Trophy 2023 Player of the Tournament, Winamthiu Ringdi, who fetched the highest bid of INR 41,000 from the debutant club Nchangram Lun FC, followed by Khiuwangbo Kaurintah (Jalukie Falcons FC) and Irabeubo Haibwang (Kingdom Stewards FC) for INR 39000 each.
Other prominent players who drew attention at the auction included defender Gaijangam Kamei, midfielders Lamsanggin Hangsing and Kawililakbou, forward Ratobe Poireng and winger Kenumdi Siarau, said the update.
It added that the auction night also saw renowned musician Kenlumyile enthralling the enthusiastic crowd.
Organised by the New Jalukie Super League (NSL) under the aegis of PDFA, the Peren District Football League (PDFL) 2024 will kick off at the New Jalukie Village Football Ground on August 17, before culminating on September 7.
