PMGDISHA scheme sees 11,990 registrations from Nagaland
DIMAPUR — Under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) scheme, a total of 11,990 candidates have registered from Nagaland, with 8,968 having been trained. Of these, 6,332 candidates were certified.
Jitin Prasada, the Minister of State for Electronic and Information Technology, conveyed this in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on July 26.
The Minister stated that the Government of India has implemented the PMGDISHA scheme to promote digital literacy in rural India. Under this scheme, approximately 7.35 crore candidates have been enrolled, with 6.39 crore trained and 4.78 crore certified.
One of the main features of the PMGDISHA scheme was that it was implemented exclusively in rural areas to cover six crore rural households (one person per household).
Beneficiaries were provided with 20 hours of training, consisting of five modules: introduction to digital devices, operating digital devices, introduction to the internet, communications using the internet, and application of the internet (including citizen-centric services), as well as the use of financial tools for undertaking digital cashless transactions.
In the northeast region’s state-wise distribution of certified candidates, Assam tops the list with 18,75,452 certified individuals, followed by Tripura with 2,15,688, Meghalaya with 71,301, Sikkim with 16,480, Mizoram with 14,357, Manipur with 11,989, and Arunachal Pradesh with 6,615. Nagaland ranks last with 6,332 certified candidates.
