DIMAPUR — The District Health Society, Mon, observed World Hepatitis Day on Sunday at the conference hall, District Hospital (DH) Mon, on the theme ‘It’s time for action’ to accelerate efforts for better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to save lives and improve health outcomes.
The event was organised in collaboration with the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP), TI Shansham, Mon Users Network, OST DH, and DAPCU, Mon, according to an update.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. AP Lemwang, the nodal officer of the treatment facility at the NVHCP, District Hospital Mon, discussed viral hepatitis, its different types, causes, prevention, and available treatments.
He also provided detailed information about the adult and paediatric vaccine schedules. He noted that the main focus of the gathering was to raise awareness of the illness and requested everyone to provide their support by using the platforms that work best for them. He informed that the medicines and test kits are available free of charge at the facility.
Special guest Dr. Imnapokim, chief medical officer, Mon, thanked the resource person for sharing their expertise on the disease and encouraged the audience to spread the knowledge they had gained.
He also urged every employee to recommit themselves and cooperate for the sake of the people of Mon.
