DIMAPUR — Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and president of the North East Regional Institute for Parliamentary Studies, Training and Research (NERIPSTR), Sharingain Longkumer, called on his Assam counterpart, Biswajit Daimary, at the latter’s official residence in Guwahati on Sunday to discuss a range of important issues related to the NERIPSTR.
An update from the Secretariat stated that the discussion centred on enhancing the accessibility of the institution to not only the parliamentarians but to the public as well.
The two Speakers concurred that making the institution’s resources and training programmes more widely available would benefit a broader audience and promote a deeper understanding of legislative processes.
It mentioned that NERIPSTR has played a pivotal role in providing research and training to both the parliamentarians and officers of the state legislatures.
Additionally, the meeting covered other key topics including the upcoming 21st annual CPA India Region Zone-III conference which is scheduled to be held in Aizawl, Mizoram. Both the Speakers have acknowledged the significance of the conference in fostering regional cooperation and enhancing the capabilities of legislative bodies across the zone.
Meanwhile, the NLA Speaker has reiterated the commitment to working closely with the Speaker of Assam and also with all the other speakers of the northeast to ensure that NERIPSTR continues to serve as a vital resource for legislative training and research.
Report further stated that the discussions highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to make legislative institutions more inclusive and effective in serving the public.
