Advisor Wangpang inaugurates experiential learning centre in Mon

Wangpang Konyak inaugurating the Experiential Learning Centre at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Mon town on Friday.  

DIMAPUR — The advisor of Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, on Friday inaugurated an Experiential Learning Centre for innovative learning through virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), animation, visual effect and modern gaming at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Mon town.   

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Konyak appreciated all the people who were involved in the project and bringing it to reality. He has described as a great opportunity for the people of Mon to have such kind of learning facility, as it is the first time in Nagaland, stated a DIPR report.

He also encouraged the students to take advantage of such modern technology saying, “The education system in Nagaland has improved a lot, how you study is more important than where you study.”

He further assured to take up the problems faced by the teachers and students to higher authority.

Also speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, informed that it is the first of its kind in Nagaland. He thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, for choosing Mon district for the project and funding it.

“The education programme has been designed in such a way the students can learn through virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), animation, visual effect and modern gaming in the education section,” Verma said.

He stated that the idea was to instill knowledge, which are modern and upgraded.

He encouraged the students to make use of the project in the learning process to gain knowledge, which is not easily available in traditional platforms. He added that it could be popularised only if the students are interested and make use of it.

He further informed that the team would be set up to manage the instrument.

The EAC of Mon headquarters, Tshelhiu, chaired the programme, while the students of GHSS Mon presented a song. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by EAC HQ, T Imlongchaba Chang.
