Congress slams Nagaland government over poor SDG index ranking
DIMAPUR — Nagaland’s poor performance in the Niti Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index 2023-2024, has drawn criticism from the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC).
The NPCC, in a statement on Monday, labelled the low ranking as a “massive vote of no confidence” from the central government, and the “utter failure of the corruption ridden NDPP-BJP government” in the state.
Further, the party highlighted the timing as particularly ironic, given that just a day prior, the NDPP president had attributed their recent Lok Sabha election loss to national and international issues.
“NDPP blaming the Central government, which incidentally is led by its alliance partner — the BJP, under the circumstances is a proverbial case of the pot calling the kettle black,” read the statement.
Terming it as a “diversionary tactic” and part of a pattern of “deceit and jumlabaazi”, the NPCC went on to state that “the people of Nagaland deserve better” and called on the government to change its ways for the good of the state.
