DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles apprehended three persons and seized drugs worth crores during a joint operation on July 10, acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of drugs via the Nuiland-Dimapur road stretch.
According to a press release, Assam Rifles established a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) near 4th Mile, intercepted a vehicle, conducted a thorough search, and recovered 1,134 grams of suspected heroin (No. 4), estimated to be worth approximately INR 7,93,80,000.
The contraband was found in 81 plastic soap cases, meticulously concealed to avoid detection.
The individuals apprehended at the scene in connection with the smuggling activities, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the Nagaland Police.

Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly football match between their troops and the youth of Dessoi at the Longtho Village Ground in Mokokchung district on July 10.
The event aimed to promote a sports culture among the youth and villagers and to foster bonds between the security forces and the local community. The youths also had the opportunity to interact closely with troops from various regions of India.
Furthermore, it organised a tree plantation drive at Niroyo village, Wokha, which saw participation from local residents, community leaders, and environmental enthusiasts.
As part of the initiative, 400 saplings of various indigenous species were planted, aiming to promote biodiversity and combat climate change.
