Massive soil erosion reported in Zunheboto town

A house at Alahuto colony in Zunheboto town damaged by soil erosion being demolished for safety measures.

DIMAPUR — At least 13 households at Alahuto colony in Zunheboto town have been affected due to massive erosion caused by incessant rains.

According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali informed that the district administration provided emergency relief funds to the thirteen affected households, while three houses were demolished for safety measures.

Looking at the magnitude of the eroding soil, major landslide is anticipated which could be of serious concern, the DC added.

The newly-elected councilor of Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC) from the concerned colony, Vikheshe Aye also stated that officials from district administration and NSDMA Zunheboto, took stock of the ground situation and precautionary evacuation was advised.

Damage of property, materials and disruptions of electricity and telephone lines were reported.
