DIMAPUR — Hukheto Yepthomi from the NDPP was elected as the chairperson of the newly-constituted Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), while Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung, also from the NDPP, was elected deputy chairperson.
The two were elected following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected councillors held at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall, Dimapur on Friday, an update from DIPR stated.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who administered the ‘Oath of Affirmation’ to the 23 councillors, termed the day as historic noting that election to the ULBs was held after a gap of 20 years with 33% reservation for women for the first time.
He expressed optimism that the councillors would work with sincerity for the development of Dimapur.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Advisor for Labour, Employment and Skill Development and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer; Administrator of DMC, W Manpai Phom and other officials.
The councilors who took oath of office include Chibeni Chishi (IND), Neingutoulie Kenguruse (NDPP), 1 Sentinuklu Jamir (IND), Hemlu Rongmei BJP), Kuhoi Zhimo (BJP), V Khekato Awomi (BJP), Nikali Sumi Chophi (NPP), George Ayemi (BJP), Lanutoshi Steven Yaden (NDPP), H Nikali Zhimo (NDPP), Phyobemo Odyuo (NDPP), Yimkumba (NDPP), R Chubazungla (NDPP), Achum Jami (NDPP), Hukheto Yepthomi (NDPP), Nzanbeni Humtsoe (NDPP), Omega Yepthomi (BJP), Nampiebeu ( NDPP), Kili N Sumi (NDPP), Lanuchuba (NDPP), Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung (NDPP), Kivikali H Chishi (BJP) and Jonathan Yepthomi (NPP).
