DDCF announces Saturday market at Naga Shopping Arcade

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has announced that a ‘Saturday weekly market’ will be held at Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market), Dimapur, starting on July 13.

In a press release, the DDCF stated that the Saturday weekly market in Dimapur is expected to provide relief for Dimapurians who currently visit the Sunday markets across the state border to Assam to buy meat, vegetables, and other items.

Items available at the weekly market will include local pork and vegetables.

It emphasised that the market should create more opportunities, especially for local vendors, allowing them to sell their products in Dimapur, which would be more convenient for them.

In this regard, the DDCF held an executive meeting on June 24 and formed a market committee.

The committee comprises Temsupok Jamir, vice president of DDCF, as convenor; Vikato Achumi, vice president, as co-convenor; Zhekato Yeptho, youth convenor, as a member; Jasper Marak, executive member, as a member; S Bendang, executive member, as a member; Kato Yeptho, executive member, as a member; Bikash Brahma, secretary administration, as a member; and Yibemo Kikon, president, as well as Richard Haolai, general secretary, as the ex-officio of the committee.

The DDCF also appealed to all Dimapur residents to take advantage of the weekly market on Saturdays for their shopping, noting that this would help them avoid crossing the border on Sundays, allowing more time for family, friends, or a restful day on Sundays.
