Ruopfuzhano Whiso to represent Nagaland at Miss Universe India 2024

DIMAPUR — Twenty-four-year-old Ruopfuzhano Whiso will represent Nagaland state at the Miss Universe India 2024 competition. She was selected from among 19 candidates who auditioned for Miss Universe Nagaland at Zone Niathu by the Park, Chümoukedima, on Tuesday.

After the audition, Mele Pucho, the president of Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN), told media persons that Miss Universe Nagaland audition was held for the first time in Nagaland and from this year onwards they are going to select a candidate directly to compete at the national level.

He informed at a total of 19 candidates from across different districts of the state came for the audition.

The juries for the audition were Asmita Chakraborty, Miss Tourism India 2023, and Amjad Khan, Director of Operations and Marketing of Miss Universe India.

Amjad Khan said that they decided to have audition from 28 different cities and two auditions from Union Territories so that each state can audition to represent their states.  He also informed that the selected candidates from each state will participate at the national level, and the one who is crowned Miss Universe India 2024 will be representing India at the Miss universe pageant which will held later in November in Mexico.

He said the three-week long Miss Universe India pageant will likely start during the third week of August as they need to finish before September 10, because they want to give two months’ time to the title holder to prepare for the Miss Universe competition.

Asmita Chakraborty, updated that there were four rounds during the audition, and said that the competition was tough because all the participants were well prepared and well trained, which amazed her.

Nagaland has a bright future in pageant, she added. According to her, the criteria for judging were stage presence, confidence and also their presence of mind while answering questions.

The top five contestants at the Miss Universe Nagaland audition were Ruopfuzhano Whiso, Kenei Ritse, Vimgha Sheqi, Keziah Mero and Tsiawavi.
