Seeks positive response to business community’s demands

DIMAPUR — The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has congratulated Chief Minister Niphiu Rio and the state government for the successful conduct of urban local body (ULB) elections across ten districts of Nagaland after two decades, describing it as ‘one of the peacefuls in recent memory’.

In a press statement, it also praised the district administrations and law enforcement agencies for their role in ensuring the successful conduct of the elections.

While congratulating the newly elected ULB members, the CNCCI stated that it looks forward to all the elected leaders working with the utmost sincerity and giving their best to improve Nagaland’s towns and cities, regardless of their party affiliation.

It noted that towns and cities in Nagaland lagged far behind in all areas compared to other parts of India due to the unfortunate inability to hold ULB elections.

Stating that the business community, as a major stakeholder in ULBs due to its significant contribution to their fiscal budgets, looks forward to working with the newly elected ULB members for the development and progress of towns and cities, it reminded the chief minister to address its long-standing demand, which has been submitted through proper procedural and democratic means.

The business community in Nagaland bears the silent burn of injustices at all levels, it maintained, adding that the community genuinely deserves to be given a voice.

Furthermore, the CNCCI appealed that a magnanimous and positive response from the government to its demands would be pioneering in empowering the business community and that it would go down in the annals of the history of India’s business community and send a positive message about a conducive business environment.
