DHS Longleng organises orientation on menstrual hygiene scheme
DIMAPUR — The District Health Society (DHS), Longleng, on Thursday conducted a one-day district level orientation on menstrual hygiene scheme at EBRC Hall in Longleng town.
A press release from CMO office stated that Dr. Tiasunep, CMO of Longleng, delivered the welcome address and encouraged all the trainees to garner the knowledge about menstrual health. He also requested the trainees to propagate the information in all the villages, family, friends and society.
Dr. Imnameren Phom, DPO-RMNCH+A, highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene for the well-being and dignity of individuals. To promote proper menstrual hygiene practices, he advised using clean and safe menstrual product, maintain personal hygiene during menstruation and to manage menstrual discomfort effectively.
He explained that the purpose of the training was to create awareness to mitigate the challenges associated with periods and encouraged all to spread awareness so that every woman and girl have access to safe and sustainable menstrual hygiene products along with holistic and accurate information to manage menstruation.
The resource persons namely Dr. Longri from UNICEF and Dr. Suimzenla from RBSK spoke on the basics of menstrual hygiene, key messages, myths and misconceptions regarding menstruation, rolling out menstrual hygiene and SBCC on menstrual hygiene and reporting.
It was followed with discussion on menstrual hygiene and on core issues in RMNCH+A.
The training was attended by all the ASHA in the district, DPMU staff, RBSK, MMU nurses, media staff from CMO office.
