Assam Rifles observes Yoga Day, Widows’ Day

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles commemorated the 10th International Yoga Day with a series of events across various locations in Nagaland.

In Pfütsero, a yoga session was held at Nazareth School, with 80 students and five teachers participating. The session focused on asanas and pranayama techniques, emphasising their benefits for managing stress and enhancing focus.

Remote villages along the Indo-Myanmar border in Kiphire district saw participation from villagers and Assam Rifles personnel. The event included yoga demonstrations and discussions on the benefits of yoga.

In Dimapur, a mass yoga session for all ranks and their families was held, with 246 participants. The session highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for overall health and fitness.

At Ghaspani, 281 Assam Rifles personnel and their families participated in a yoga session aimed at promoting wellness and holistic health. Similarly, in Kohima, in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris, 506 troops, families, and children attended a yoga event.

Noklak district also witnessed significant participation, with 371 service personnel and 47 village locals attending the yoga celebrations. In addition, a team scaled Mount Pauna and conducted a yoga session at the summit, while another team held a session on the banks of the Tapuki river.

Other locations, including Tuensang, Tobu, Changlangshu, Noykhu, Wangti, and Chenloisho, saw participation from 326 combatants, 19 families, and 75 children.

In Phek district, 484 Assam Rifles personnel and 54 villagers from border villages such as Avangkhu, New Thewati, Ziphu, Akhen, and Meluri participated in yoga sessions.

International Widows’ Day

Meanwhile, as a prelude to International Widows’ Day, Assam Rifles organised an event at Lungwiram village in Dimapur.

According to an update, the aim of the initiative was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by widows and advocate for their rights and empowerment, calling for collective action to support them.

A total of seven widows from the village were felicitated on the occasion.
