Senior citizens bearers of wisdom, traditions – Gov. Ganesan
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan on Friday said that the senior citizens are the pillars of the society, the bearers of wisdom and cherished traditions.
“Their (senior citizens) contributions have shaped the society we live in today, and it is our duty to ensure that their golden years are filled with comfort, peace, and joy, so this water tank is a small gesture of gratitude for everything they have done for us,” the governor said.
Ganesan was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a water reservoir at Good Samaritan Senior Citizens’ Home, Meriema in Kohima district, stated an update from PRO Raj Bhavan.
He said that the occasion is particularly close to his heart, not just because of the significance of the project, but because it encompasses the spirit of care and respect that society must hold for the elderly community.
“The water reservoir we are here to inaugurate today is more than just a structure; it is a symbol of our commitment to ensuring the well-being and comfort of the elderly residents of this esteemed home.
“Water is essential to life, and by providing a reliable supply, we are addressing one of the most fundamental needs, ensuring that our senior citizens live with dignity and without worry,” the governor said.

Affirming that the elders deserve the best care and attention, he went to state that it is “our collective responsibility” to provide them the best care.
“Let this reservoir stand as a testament to our unwavering respect and commitment to our elders.
“Let us work together to create more such opportunities that enhance the quality of life for our senior citizens. By doing so, we not only honour them but also set an example for future generations to follow,” he added.
