DIMAPUR — The race for seats in Nagaland’s Urban Local Body (ULB) elections continues, with a significant number of candidates securing victory opposed.
As of Wednesday, 17 more candidates have been elected unopposed in various municipal councils and town councils across the state, bringing the total number of such winners to 64.

In the Dimapur Municipal Council, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate, Hukheto Yepthomi, won the Ward 5 seat unopposed.
The party continued its streak in the East Dimapur Town Council with its candidates Lireni Ovung (Ward 1), Niuto Awomi (Ward 2), Manna Zhimo (Ward 4), and K Hokuto Murumi (Ward 5), being declared elected unopposed.
As per an update from the State Election Commission (SEC), the trend continued in the Peren Town Council with Ilungrai (Ward 4) and Gaigwang Hegei (Ward 9) of NDPP winning without a contest. Similarly, Tingba Hegui secured Ward 8 of the Jalukie Town Council while Kerang Dumtta secured Ward 2 of Tening Town Council.
Khazu Dukru, who represented the party in Ward 4 of the Pfütsero Town Council, also won her seat unopposed.
In the Satakha Town Council, Vikaho Sema and S Khehoto Sema, both from the NDPP, secured Ward 5 and 6 respectively.
The party also won three seats unopposed in the Meluri Town Council with Sutsutho Pochury (Ward 2), Z Porhutho Ngouri (Ward 3), and Zürhothsü Kajiri (Ward 4). An Independent candidate, Thsüvila secured Ward 1 without contest.
Meanwhile, S Khehoto Chophy, representing the Nationalist Congress party (NCP) won Ward 2 in the Atoizu Town Council.
