DIMAPUR — Following the passing of former Minister for Forest and Environment, MC Konyak, on June 16 in Dimapur, condolences have poured in from across the political spectrum and community organisations.
Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CL John, mentioned in a condolence message that he began his political career in 1998 and was elected from the 42 Wakching Assembly Constituency in Mon district. He described the late Konyak as a sincere government officer and a competent public leader known for his integrity, straightforwardness, accountability, and vast wisdom.
He said that it would be very difficult to fill the vacuum caused by his death and noted that his service to the Konyak community and to Nagas will be heartily remembered by all.
John expressed sympathy to the bereaved family during this time of grief and prayed to Almighty God to grant peace and solace to the departed soul.
ENPUD: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD), in expressing condolences to the bereaved family members of the former minister, who also served as the treasurer of ENPUD, described him as a humble, kind-hearted, and generous person who was always ready to extend help in any situation.
It stated that his death is a significant loss to Nagas in general and ENPUD in particular, and the void left behind by his absence will be difficult to fill.
NDPP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), expressing shock and deep sadness at the news of MC Konyak’s demise, described him as a senior member of the party whose contributions during its formative years were invaluable.
“His demise creates a huge vacuum in the NDPP family,” read a condolence message from the party, adding that though he advanced in age, he continued to be actively involved in all aspects of the growth of the party.
“The President and rank and file of the NDPP convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Reizekhrieno and the members of the bereaved family. May almighty God comfort them during this sad and difficult time,” it stated.
