DIMAPUR — The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) organised a two-day workshop on organisational capacity building on climate change to enhance understanding of the global climate crisis, address observable changes in Nagaland’s temperatures, and foster public awareness and action.

The event was held on June 14 and 15 at Kapamodzii Peak in Phek district, drawing 20 participants from the Kohima, Phek, and Pfustero branches, according to a press release.

The training, conducted by the Research and Development (R&D) Wing of tEA, aimed to equip staff from the Phek and Pfustero branches with the knowledge and skills necessary to raise awareness about climate change within the communities they serve.

On the first day, sessions on climate change were conducted by Tewekha Mero, an R&D associate, who simplified the concept of climate change, emphasising its causes, impacts, and evidence, especially relevant to Nagaland.

Tongtimenla Jamir, an R&D associate, led a session on ‘Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action’. She provided an explanation of SDG 13 and its interconnectedness with other SDGs, stressing the importance of climate crisis awareness among team members to effectively mobilise the communities they serve.

On the second day, R&D associate Moaakum Imsong conducted a session on climate-smart agriculture, sharing various approaches for farmers to adopt practices that are resilient to climate challenges.

A session on ‘community climate action’ was led by Neikule Doulo, executive director of tEA. Doulo provided insights and established strategies to prepare the team for mobilising communities to address the climate crisis.

The training concluded with team activities and a review session by Tenunukshi, aligning the discussed concepts with various tEA projects.
