NCP Wokha region holds dedication programme for party candidates
WOKHA — The Wokha region of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday held a dedication programme for its eight candidates, who are in the fray for the upcoming Wokha Town Council (WTC) election, at the residence of MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe in Likya Colony of Wokha town.
Speaking at the programme, the MLA urged the party workers to come together as family and support all the party candidates contesting in the upcoming ULB election. He expressed desire to make NCP an influential political party and reach all corners in the state.
Stating that politics is all about people’s participation, he invited them to actively participate in the upcoming ULB election and express their rights with clean and clear vision putting God first.
He urged all the eight candidates to work cohesively and support one another by uphold the party principle for growth and development in the district. He also assured all possible assistance and wished them the best in the upcoming ULB elections.
After the programme, Humtsoe escorted the eight intending candidates to the office of the deputy commissioner’s office to file their nominations.
NCP Wokha region has allotted party tickets to N Senkathung Tungoe, W Myingthungo Kikon, Lily T Humtsoe, Nzanthung Lotha, Santsuthung Murry, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, Mhao Ngullie and T Woshumo Ezung.
During the dedication programme, Jenibemo Odyuo, NCP general secretary of Wokha district, delivered the welcome address, while Yanrenthung Humtsoe spoke on behalf of the NCP candidates and SE Kikon, advisor of NCP Nagaland, and Nribemo Odyuo, president of NCP Wokha district, delivered short speeches.
Y Chumbenthung Murry, assistant pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, said the dedicatory prayers for the party candidates.
DC Wokha issues restriction order
The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, has issued restriction order in view of scrutiny of nominations for ULB elections in respect of Wokha and Bhandari town councils on June 13.
The restriction order was issued to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of scrutiny in the respective offices of the returning officers.
The DC has urged all political parties/ candidates to strictly adhere to the instructions of the respective returning officer with regard to the timing of the scrutiny.
It stated that only persons as permitted under rule 27 (1) of the Nagaland Municipal Election Rules, 2023 (ie candidates, their election agents, one proposer of each candidate and one other person duly authorised in writing by concerned candidate) would be allowed to come inside the office of the returning officer.
It has also prohibited rallies, procession, march, public meeting, show of strength within the Wokha/ Bhandari town area on the day of scrutiny.
The DC further directed all candidates and political parties to strictly adhere to the above restrictions and other security measures issued from time to time.
