KOHIMA — The Seiyhama Chapter of the inaugural Presidential Trophy of the Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association (NAYSA) Group D took place on Saturday at Seiyhama Local Ground in Kohima.

A total of 12 villages under NAYSA-D are competing for the trophy in men’s football and women’s volleyball.

Attending the Seiyhama Chapter as the special guest, Roko Angami, president of the Nagaland Football Coaches Association and former footballer, maintained that sports have the power to change the world and unite the people.

He commended NAYSA-D for initiating the Presidential Trophy 2024 to promote sports, unity, and peace in society. Sports, he said, are no longer a pastime activity, and he called upon the youngsters to take up sports with seriousness.

Roko urged the youth to demonstrate determination and prioritise discipline in sports to excel as players and achieve their goals.

He emphasised that success in sports doesn’t come through shortcuts and stressed the importance of humility, tolerance, and self-discipline as essential qualities for success in both sports and life.

In men’s football of Seiyhama Chapter, Seiyhama dominated Nachama with a score of 10-1, while Tuophema secured a 4-2 win over Tsiemekhuma, and Chiechama triumphed 6-3 against Botsa.

In women’s volleyball, Botsa defeated Chiechama, and Seiyhama emerged victorious against Nachama.
