KWU condemns assault on minor girl

DIMAPUR — The Khonoma Women Union (KWU) has condemned the recent report of harassment and physical assault meted to an 11-year-old child allegedly by Dr. Vibino Sabina of Khonoma village and stated that harassment and physical assault in any form is unacceptable, even more so, when it is directed towards a minor.

It stated that mistreatment of a minor is not only deeply troubling but goes against the fundamental principles of humanity and decency. It added that tvery child deserves to grow up in an environment that is safe, nurturing and supportive.

It called upon the relevant authorities to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the matter and to hold the responsibility for any wrongdoing accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Meanwhile, KWU has expressed solidarity with the victim and affirmed to support any efforts aimed at ensuring the victim’s wellbeing and safety. It further wished a speedy recovery of the minor and prayed to the Almighty God to grant strength to recover from such traumatic experience.
