17 candidates file nominations for ULB election in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — A total of 17 candidates have filed their nominations for the upcoming Municipal/Town Councils elections in Nagaland, as of Friday.

As per an update from the State Election Commission, the nominations were received for various constituencies across the state.

Bhandari Town Council received the most nominations, with eight candidates — five men and three women — from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and one independent male candidate.

East Dimapur Town Council received three nominations, with two men running as independents and one woman representing the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).

Tuli, Jalukie, and Aghunato Town Councils received nominations of one independent male candidate each, while Satakha Town Council received two independent candidates, one man and one woman.

The total number of candidates who have filed nominations is 17, with 11 men and six women.

Nominations for the urban local body elections can be filed till 3 pm on June 11 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 20. After the polling on June 26 and re-polling on June 28, if needed, the votes will be counted and declared on June 29.
