KVC alleges breach of status quo in disputed areas
DIMAPUR — The Kiyevi Village Council (KVC) has alleged that contrary to the government’s standing order to maintain status quo, some “intruders under the shelter of security forces” have been illegally constructing houses and undertaking agricultural activities in the disputed areas on daily basis.
In a press release, the council said that as per the government’s standing order, “all the parties concerned were ordered to maintain status quo and no activities whatsoever for any development or construction shall be carried out in the disputed area till the case is settled amicably.”
And in compliance to the order, the Kiyevi Village Council, GBs and bonafide residents of Kiyevi village have maintained the status quo till date, the KVC said.
The council went on to state that it had, on numerous occasions, intimated the concerned authorities about the violation of the status quo by the neighbouring villages.
“However, no action has been taken against the miscreants and no steps were taken to amicably settle the matter, due to which the villagers of Kiyevi has been undergoing untold hardships as the villagers are not able to carry out cultivation in agricultural land for livelihood,” it stated.
Maintaining that the Kiyevi villagers have no option left but to undertake agricultural activities, the council cautioned that in the event of any untoward incident, the government of Nagaland will be held responsible.
