JD-U Nagaland endorses upgrading of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu to engineering college
DIMAPUR — The Janata Dal United (JD-U), Nagaland has endorsed the demand of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) to upgrade Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) to a full-fledged engineering college, terming it as a “genuine necessity”.
In a press communiqué, the party said that students from Nagaland are going to other states for technical education, which is giving huge financial implications to the Nagas.
“It is saddening to observe that none of the successive governments in Nagaland has ever given a serious thought on the educational development of the state, be it at the school or college levels. Health, education and roads are the three basic requirements that lay the foundation towards a welfare state.
“Education being the centre of these three basic domains in the affairs of good governance, the Nagaland government must wake up with never too late approach and radically work towards reformation of education,” it said.
Maintaining that uncertain future is staring at the Naga society, the JD-U called upon the state government “to exert its utmost emphasis on advancement of education in Nagaland as the top priority in its agenda of good governance”.
