Assam Rifles organises various events for students, teachers

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles organised a lecture at Aboi village, Mon district, on May 24 for the local youth, focusing on drug abuse and de-addiction, to raise community awareness.

According to a press release, the lecture aimed to educate and raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction, emphasising the importance of prevention and treatment.

The speakers on the occasion stressed the multifaceted repercussions of substance abuse on society, encompassing mental, physical, and economic strains.

About 90 students and six school teachers participated in the event.

An awareness lecture on drug abuse was also held at Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Toluvi, Dimapur, as part of Meri LiFE amplification.

The lecture covered a range of topics, including the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals and communities, prevention and intervention strategies, and the treatment options and resources available for recovery.

This initiative aimed to equip students with the knowledge and tools necessary to combat the widespread issue of substance abuse and saw the participation of 150 students and 10 teachers.

‘A day with company commander’

On Saturday, the Assam Rifles organised ‘A day with company commander’ for the students of Kekhugwo Government Middle School, with a total of 23 students and three teachers participating.

The programme included interaction with the company commander and troops, as well as various activities such as football, volleyball, tug of war, and a tour of the area. It concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.

A similar event was held on May 23 for students of New Thewati Middle School at New Thewati village in Phek.

During the programme, the students also visited the barracks to learn more about the routine in the life of a soldier.

A total of 80 students and three teachers participated in the various events organised as part of the visit.
