Development projects, community issues discussed at Noklak DPDB meeting

DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Noklak District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held under the chairmanship of MLA and Chairman of Noklak DPDB, P. Longon, at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner, Noklak, on May 22.

According to a DIPR report, during the meeting, the house discussed the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) for both 56th A/C Noklak and 57th A/C Thonoknyu, which was approved and to be forwarded to the concerned authority for necessary action.

Tanghiu from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) proposed that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel be stationed at Noklak headquarters and explained the need for SDRF during emergencies. The house approved this proposal to be forwarded to the concerned authority for further action.

During the meeting, student bodies raised various issues, including the prohibition of the sale of tobacco products, alcohol, and other intoxicants near educational institutions, the need for a sufficient supply of drinking water at educational institutions, and the maintenance of roads leading to schools.

The members also discussed the upgrade of Baptist School Thonoknyu from a lower primary (LP) school to a middle elementary (ME) school and agreed to forward the matter to the School Education Department for consideration.

Kengnyu Village Council proposed the construction of a cultural hall at Kengnyu village under the Thonoknyu sub-division, which the house approved to forward to the Department of Tribal Affairs for consideration.

Nukho village submitted for government registration of their society, and Choklangan village society requested the renewal of their society registration. Both requests were approved and forwarded to the concerned authority for consideration and further action.

Further, the house also advised the society members to carry out the activities of the society continuously and sincerely.

MLA Longon proposed a chopper service twice a week, which the members discussed and agreed to forward to the general manager of Nagaland State Transport for necessary action. He also urged the members to attend meetings regularly and bring their departmental agendas for discussion and implementation.
