Women’s Champions Trophy: Zungki Slingers register win; rain play spoilsport
DIMAPUR — The Zungki Slingers defeated Tizu Warriors by 10 wickets on Friday, in the ongoing 3rd Edition of the Women’s Champions Trophy held at Sovima Cricket Ground and Nagaland Cricket Stadium.
In the first match of the day played at the Sovima Cricket Ground, the batting line-up of Tizu Warriors crumbled, managing to score only 70 runs (all out) in 22.4 overs, said an update from Nagaland Cricket Association.
It was an easy chase for Zungki Slingers, as they scored 71 for loss of no wickets in just 14 overs. Priyanka Karmakar’s contribution of an unbeaten 30 runs and 4 wickets for just 19 runs, which earned the Player of the Match title, was crucial in the win. Illuneule also 19 runs (not out).
Meanwhile, the match between the Dhansiri Titans and Chathe Dazzlers at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium was suspended due to the rain.
Dhansiri Titans had put 128 runs (all out) on the board, helped by Alemienla’s brilliant knock of 74 runs (not out), while Chathe Dazzlers’s bowling department was led by Najmeen with four wickets for 17 runs.
In the run chase, the Chathe Dazzlers were 45/1 in 11 overs with Vipeni Awomi batting at 13 runs, before rain played spoilsport.
