Kevisenuo Leno and Thejangunuo Metha receive Sudha Das Memorial Meritorious Award
DIMAPUR — Two students — Kevisenuo Leno and Thejangunuo Metha — of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS) Kohima were given the Sudha Das Memorial Meritorious Award 2024 on Friday for excelling in the recently declared HSLC result.
Leno, who scored 86.2% with distinction in four subjects was felicitated with the best award, while Metha received the ‘second best award’ for scoring 83% with distinction in three subjects, as per an update from Gorkha Youth Association Kohima.
The Sudha Das Memorial Meritorious Award, which carries a cash award of INR 50,000 (best performer) and INR 40,000 (second best performer) with citation, was instituted for the top two girl students of RGHSS in HSLC examination.
Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima president Santu Thapa and RGHSS vice principal Sedengunuo Solo handed over the awards to at a brief programme held in the school auditorium, in the presence Sourabh Roy, husband of Late Sudha Das, cousin of the deceased, president of Nagaland Gorkha Association Nobin Pradhan, leaders of various Gorkha associations in Kohima and well-wishers.
In his brief address, Sourabh Roy highlighted the objective of the award, saying that the RGHSS was chosen as Late B.K. Das, father of Late Sudha Das, was the former headmaster of the school.
Thechano, a teacher at RGHSS, chaired the programme, while another teacher, Denuvi, delivered the prayer.
