Chümoukedima wins Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament
DIMAPUR — The Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament 2024 reached its conclusion on Tuesday at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, where Chümoukedima emerged victorious, clinching the title with a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over Niuland.
Batting first, Niuland struggled to build momentum, being bowled out for a modest total of 132 runs in 36.1 overs. In response, Chümoukedima displayed grit and determination, chasing down the target in 45.5 overs, thanks to a pivotal 51-run knock by Sedezhalie Rupreo off 125 deliveries, earning him the Player of the Match award.
The Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, witnessed the match as the special guest, according to an update.
Jonathan Rongsen from Chümoukedima was named the tournament’s Best Bowler, having taken 13 wickets. Rajesh Das of Longleng was adjudged the Best Batsman for his outstanding tally of 193 runs. The Best Wicket Keeper award went to Afzal Hussain Choudhury from Niuland.
Jonathan Rongsen was also crowned Player of the Tournament for his remarkable all-round performance, scoring 180 runs and taking 13 wickets.
