The present government is trying its best to develop the country. Lots of initiatives are being undertaken to give a better look. However, some initiatives are cruel and unjust. They try to intrude upon the social and religious life of the people with political snare. There are numerous glittering traps in all areas of life. Some Nagas jump into it to appease political authority. They follow the mantras of the government for miraculous living. Political acclamation will not last long. The duck political life of following the master blindly can lead to disaster. As Christians, we must impart Christian values and ethics in religious, social, political, and economic life. By this, we keep Christian identity above all else. When we participate in the exterior forces that try to destroy us, we are killing ourselves in our land. Let us not sell our culture, values and principles at the expense of political favour.
Thanks to NBCC for enlightening the Naga Christians to keep politics away from the Church. The idea of BJP to clean church compound on May 11, 2024, sounds like a shift from Swachh Bharat Mission to Swachh Church Mission. This is purely an insult to Christians. Thus, a polite refusal is the best response. Someday, it may call all Christians to ring church bell or to take full/half bath on particular day. Some Naga Christians will obey BJP’s command more than God’s Commandment. Irrationality is overtaking the country in pieces. How many people clapped and banged their utensils at the command of Mr. Modi? I believe their utensils have turned into gold and diamond by now. All evil spirit fainted at the sound of the clap and banging of pots and utensils. The evil rise to consume their reasoning power. Let reason guide us generously. Let love abound in the hearts of all. Christian values and principles will last till the end.
How do the BJP supporters/members in Nagaland respond to this call? Are they planning to clean some churches and plant trees? Are they planning to MODIfy the church’s compound? Are there some fanatics BJP workers and its allies residing in Nagaland under the umbrella of the goodwill of Christians? If so, they must appreciate the goodness of Nagas rather than plotting against the people. Are there political leaders in Nagaland who are trying to sell Christianity for politics? If so, they should stop such political business. Are there politicians who solemnly release their manifesto only to hide their wrongdoings? If so, they should stop cheating the public. Nagaland is a Christian State. We are all trying to be more Christian in words and deeds despite our limitations. Our faith and actions should encourage each other to promote holistic development of all citizens. Do things justly and rightly. Let us promote each other constructively.
As Christians, we respect and love all. We do not keep a grudge against any political party. Likewise, we request all political parties to respect the dignity and rights of every citizen for the well-being of the country. God Bless Nagaland.
With regards,
