YNC kicks off year-long golden jubilee celebration
MOKOKCHUNG — The Young Naga Club (YNC) kicked off its year-long golden jubilee celebration with traditional gaiety on the eve of Moatsü festival at Yimtsungta Arok Sapang in Ungma village under Mokokchung district on April 30 on the theme “Sobaliba Sentetshi (refining culture).”
L Chubaonen, director of the Soil and Water Conservation department and special guest of the event, commended YNC for achieving a significant milestone since its establishment in 1974 by overcoming numerous challenges along the way. He noted that the club is now aiming for greater heights under young leadership.
He expressed gratitude to the founding members of the club for their foresight in passing down a rich cultural legacy to the next generation as well as for their engagement in various social and welfare activities with an aim to uplift the society.
Chubaonen called upon the club members to endure challenges at every stage and to embrace necessary changes while at the same discard the things that are no longer suitable. He also urged the members to strive for unity and work towards refining culture and personal development.
He further urged the members to focus on achieving academic excellence and strive for livelihood sustainability.
YNC president, Toshiwapang Imsong; convenor of planning committee, Kikumzulu; and vice president of Ungma Senso Mungdang, Imtsisungkum, also spoke at the event.
The highlights of the programme included presentation of Ao classical drama, folk songs, Ao poetry and dances etc.
