DIMAPUR — Elaborating on the national target to eliminate malaria by 2030, the Kohima district vector borne officer, Dr. Kevihulie Meyase, called upon the allied departments to carry out surveillance, advocacy and generate awareness to achieve the goal of malaria-free India.
Dr. Meyase stated this during a meeting of the district task force meeting of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) on malaria elimination in convergence with allied departments including Agriculture, Education, Fisheries and Social Welfare held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kohima on Tuesday.
While briefing on the vision of the programme, Dr. Meyase stated that elimination of malaria would contribute in improved health and quality of life. The goal of the programme, according to him was to attain zero cases by 2030 throughout the country.
In his closing remarks, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, sought concerted efforts from all the allied departments for effective implementation of the programme. He further suggested for inclusion of ward chairmen and NGOs in the next meeting in order to sensitise and generate awareness at the community level.
